2016 Cabernet Sauvignon
Oh goodness, does this wine have all the smells! Green peppercorns, blackberry cobbler, cinnamon bark, watermelon jolly rancher (but just a touch), bramble and that bit of petrichor – you know, when it rains for the first time in a while and everything is fresh and pretty and clean – petrichor.
Then you taste it. Flavor Flav! More berry, a little blue and a little rasp, lovely round fig (gosh I love figs!), a touch of violet and some saltiness that really ties the room together. This is one of the more structured Otis Kenyon Wine Cabernet Sauvignons. It rocks round but distinct tannins, bright acidity that leaves your mouth watering and plenty of fruit to balance the glass out.
Food pairings (gosh I love food): really, there are tons of options here. Your favorite cut of beef topped with herbed butter, served with potatoes dauphinoise and roasted Brussel sprouts would be a classic, but don’t limit yourself! How about going with a radicchio & arugula salad with plenty of fresh herbs, balsamic vinaigrette, roasted pecans and piled high with Parmigiano-Reggiano?
